VARAZDIN, Sept 21 (Hina) - The northern Croatian town of Varazdin on
Monday made an official candidacy for inclusion on UNESCO's world
heritage list.
Varazdin Mayor Hrvoje Vojvoda today submitted documentation for
the inclusion to Croatia's Ambassador to the UNESCO Vesna Girardi
Jurkic.
A documentary entitled "Varazdin - Baroque Town" was also
presented.
Girardi Jurkic said the documentation on Varazdin was one of the
best presented to date, and hoped Varazdin would be included on the
UNESCO list.
Several Croatian towns are already on the list, including
Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir and Porec, as well as the Plitvice Lakes
National Park.
