POPE RECEIVES CROATIAN OUTGOING AMBASSADOR

( Editorial: --> 8094 ) ROME, Sept 4 (Hina/AR) - Pope John Paul II received on Friday the outgoing Croatian Ambassador to the Holy See Ivo Livljanic and family, and expressed satisfaction with his upcoming visit to Croatia. The Pope's second visit to Croatia will take place between October 2 and 4. The first one took place in 1994. Croatia and the Holy See signed three agreements on church-state relations. Livljanic said he hoped a fourth agreement, which is currently being drafted, would be signed during the Pope's visit. The Pope said he was especially looking forward to visiting Marija Bistrica, a town and shrine in northern Croatia, but also to seeing the Croatian coastline which, the Pope said, he heard was very beautiful. The Pope presented the Croatian Ambassador with a medal minted on the occasion of 20 years of pontificate. (hina) ha rm 041443 MET sep 98
