ZAGREB, Aug 6 (Hina) - According to the latest information from the
Interior Ministry's fire-fighting operational centre, the battle
against the fire which broke out on the Peljesac peninsula
(southern Adriatic) on Wednesday night is still underway.
The eastern front towards the village of Orebic is under control but
the western is not.
The fire in the village of Kuciste has been contained for the
largest part but fire brigades are still fighting fire in the
western part of the village, Slavko Rako of the Interior Ministry
public relations office said.
Local fire brigades and residents, Croatian Army and civil defence
members have been joined by civil defence members from Sisak and
Bjelovar Counties.
Despite unfavourable weather conditions, the third 'canadair'
plane has taken off from Dubrovnik airport towards Peljesac to help
the fire brigades.
