Deloitte's top 500 Central European companies list includes 13 Croatian firms

ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - This year's list of the top 500 companies in central Europe, which Deloitte compiled according to their sales revenues, includes 13 Croatian companies, with the food and retail concern Agrokor as the best performer among them, landing at no. 28.

The list, presented in Zagreb on Thursday by representatives of that international consulting company, is again topped by the Polish PKN Orlen oil company with revenues of EUR 20.9 billion.

It is followed by Hungary's MOL with EUR 15.5 billion.

The Czech car maker Skoda, owned by Germany's Volkswagen, came in third with EUR 8.6 billion in revenues.

The most numerous in the rankings are companies from Poland (173). There are also 81 Czech and 68 Hungarian companies.

Broken down by their main line of business, a majority of companies come from the energy, retail and telecommunications sectors.

The number of Croatian companies in the list dropped from 16 in the previous to 13 in the latest ranking.

Apart from Agrokor at no. 28, other Croatian companies are INA Group (30) with revenues of 3.5 billion euros, the HEP power supplier (85), Konzum (97) and HT Group (140). Some of the Croatian companies in the list are Prirodni Plin, Zagrebacki Holding, Podravka, Vipnet etc.

This year, Vindija, Koncar and Pliva dropped off the list, after they were ranked among the top 500 companies in central Europe last year.

Deloitte also published a list of the top 50 banks and a list of the top 50 insurance companies in central Europe. The banks list is topped by the Polish PKO BP, followed by the Hungarian OTP Bank and the Czech CSOB. Four banks operating in Croatia are also included: Zagrebacka (11), Privredna Banka Zagreb (24), Erste (34) and RBA (43).

The insurers list, with the Polish PZU at its helm, includes three Croatian companies: Croatia Osiguranje (16), Euroherc (47) and Allianz Zagreb (48).
