SARAJEVO, July 27 (Hina) - Significant progress has been achieved
in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the past several months, but a key problem
remains, which is the return of refugees and displaced persons,
especially with the return of minorities, European Commission
commissioner for foreign affairs, Hans van den Broek, said at a
brief press conference after talks with members of the Bosnia-
Herzegovina Presidency.
Van den Broek arrived in Sarajevo on Monday.
He told reporters he had reiterated at the meeting that the
Stabilisation Force (SFOR) would not forever stay in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, and the international community would not forever
provide financial help.
Van den Broek stressed that SFOR's mandate must in no case be
changed when it comes to the arrest of war crimes indictees, because
without their apprehension, it was difficult to speak about any
kind of reconciliation.
He warned that if leaders in Bosnia-Herzegovina did not stop the
corruption and tax evasion, it would be very difficult to convince
donors from around the world to continue providing financial help
to the country.
Van den Broek also held talks with members of the Council of
Ministers and Bosnian federation government.
