ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - Civil control of the Croatian Army and a
fully transparent financial system were the main objectives of the
recently completed reorganisation process in the Croatian Defence
Ministry and the Armed Forces Main Headquarters, Defence Minister
Andrija Hebrang said Wednesday.
Hebrang said this following his meeting with ambassadors of NATO
member-countries to Croatia.
"The reorganisation process, which had been going on for several
years, was completed recently with the signing of organisation
books and this is the right moment to show our western friends what
we have done," Hebrang told reporters.
The restructuring process was aimed at adjusting the Croatian Army
to those organisations we are trying to access, such as the
Partnership for Peace and NATO, Hebrang added.
He informed his guests about all elements of the new army
structure.
"We have also stressed that we want to keep all elements of
organisation which are the consequence of our experience in the
Homeland war," Hebrang added.
US Ambassador William Montgomery thanked for a "very useful
meeting" on behalf of his colleagues.
It was very useful to get acquainted with the reorganisation
process and the vision of the Ministry's work, which is very
important, Montgomery said expressing hope for close cooperation.
