ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - The Croatian government will decide on
school unions demands after the Lower House has discussed the
situation in the Croatian school system, Education and Sports
Minister Bozidar Pugelnik said Thursday after a closed government
session.
The parliament's House of Representatives will discuss the school
system Friday.
"The government will wait for tomorrow's parliamentary debate and
once again request the unions to state their demands, but in written
form", Pugelnik said.
The school unions have been on strike since June 12, demanding that
education employees be moved two salary classes forward and the
payment of holiday cash grants before the holidays.
The school unions will once again forward their demands to the
government and will attend the Lower House discussion on the school
system as observers.
In the meantime the strike is still on, said the union leaders who
Thursday waited outside the government building for the government
decision.
