DAYS OF CROATIAN CULTURE COMMENCE IN SLOVAKIA ON SUNDAY

( Editorial: --> 6245 ) BRATISLAVA, May 24 (Hina) - "Days of Croatian Culture in the Republic of Slovakia" began on Sunday in Bratislava in organisation with Croatia's Ministry of Culture. Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic opened the manifestation. Slovakian Culture Minister Ivan Hudec addressed the gathering stressing the rich cultural and historical connections of the Croatian and Slovakian people. What Croatia is offering at this manifestation shows the high- levelled culture of the Croatian people and even more strengthens the cultural cooperation of the two countries, Hudec said. Biskupic said Croatian culture would be presented in Slovakia in the best possible way, with valuable exhibitions, such as the "100 Years of Croatian Design" and "Modern Croatian Graphic Arts". Presented to the Slovak public will also be the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radio Television (HRT),the Zagreb Quartet and the HRT Tamburica Orchestra. An anthology of "Croatian-Slovak Cultural and Historical Ties", printed in both languages will also be presented. The anthology shows the great contribution of Slovakia to Croatian culture and history by personalities like Stjepan Mojzes, Martin Kukucin and above all the first Archbishop and Cardinal of Zagreb Juraj Haulik. Croatian Kinoteka will contribute to the festivities by showing the Slovak public some successful Croatian films from its holdings. The Zagreb Youth Theatre will in Bratislava perform Rene Medvesak's "Hamper". Attending the opening were a large number of Slovakian employees in culture, representatives of the Slovakian Culture Ministry, Croatian employees in culture, Croatian Ambassador to Croatia Djuro Dezelic and others.
