VUKOVAR, May 19 (Hina) - A German Parliament delegation visited the
eastern Croatian city of Vukovar on Tuesday as part of its three-day
visit to Croatia.
The Bundestag delegation, headed by the German Parliament's envoy
for Croatia Hartmut Koschyk, held talks with Vukovar-Srijem County
Prefect Rudolf Koenig.
"We arrived in Vukovar because it represents the symbol of renewal
of Croatia and because this is where vital issues regarding the
return of refugee and displaced people are being resolved," Koschyk
said after the talks.
He said financial aid should be offered for the renewal of the
Croatian Danube River region, which was heavily damaged during the
Serbian aggression, by the donors' conference on the
reconstruction of Croatia, which the government announces for
September.
"I can say with satisfaction that yesterday in Zagreb we heard that
Croatia is interested in the return of Croats to Bosnia-
Herzegovina, which is of particular significance for the (Muslim-
Croat) Federation of BH," Koschyk said.
Croatia's Ambassador to Germany Zoran Jasic said it was agreed to
formulate a plan of possible investments in the Croatian Danube
region which Germany was prepared to support.
