VUKOVAR, May 1 (Hina) - The Bishop of Djakovo and Srijem, Msgr.
Ciril Kos on Friday blessed the newly reconstructed church of St.
Joseph in Vukovar.
The town of Trogir (southern Croatia) donated 250,000 kuna (around
DM 70,000) for the reconstruction of the church.
During the Homeland War, the church was turned into a prison, so it
had not suffered great damage.
A delegation of the town of Trogir, present at the celebration along
with returnees to Borovo Naselje and Vukovar, laid wreaths at the
old Vukovar Catholic cemetery.
The delegation, headed by mayor Nenad Belas and dean of the Trogir
Matriculation Office, don Tomislav Cubelic, was received by the
mayor of Vukovar, Vladimir Stengl, who thanked them for their help
in the reconstruction of the church.
The church of St. Joseph is the first Catholic church in Vukovar
that has been reconstructed.
