MOSTAR, May 17 (Hina) - Ante Jelavic was elected president of the
Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BH) at the
party's fifth convention, held in the southern Bosnian town of
Mostar Saturday.
According to the 452-member electoral committee, Jelavic received
334 votes. He was the only presidential candidate after Bozo Ljubic
withdrew his candidacy.
There were 118 invalid ballots. A total of 576 delegates had the
right to vote.
At yesterday's session, the HDZ BH also elected a central
committee, which includes 75 members, and passed a programme
declaration.
The convention continues today, when five vice presidents and
members of the new party presidency are expected to be elected.
