VARAZDIN, May 11 (Hina) - Varazdin Police on Monday informed that
the border police patrol on May 5 around 11pm caught 47 persons
trying to illegally cross the border at Obroci, 100m from the
Slovenian border.
Of those caught, 21 are citizens of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia, Albanian by nationality, 10 are Macedonian citizens, 9
Turkish citizens and 7 citizens of Bangladesh. The captured
foreigners were sent before the police court judge and afterwards
were accommodated in the hostel for foreigners, Jezevo, near
Zagreb.
The border police caught the foreigners, who were trying to
illegally cross to Slovenia, in a Peugeot van with Maribor
registration plates 53-090, owned by Maribor Rent-a-Car.
The driver managed to escape on foot in an unknown direction but his
identity has been confirmed and Slovenian authorities are now on
his trail. He is a Slovenian citizen,(25) said Varazdin Police.
