ZAGREB, May 1 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman arrived at
Zagreb's Maksimir Park to join in the celebration of Labour Day.
"Along with my best wishes on Labour day, I call on all working
people, from factories and fields, to scientific institutions, to
have confidence in their work, their hands and minds, and in this
way we will create a better life for all of us," Tudjman said upon
arrival.
Tudjman greeted Boris Kunst and Davor Juric, the presidents of the
Association of Croatian Workers' Unions (URSH) and Association of
Independent Croatian Unions (SSSH), which organised the Labour Day
parade and celebration at Maksimir Park.
"Dear residents of Zagreb, on my behalf and on behalf of my
associates, I thank you most sincerely for this warm reception.
This is our joint holiday. We have achieved Croatia's freedom,
democracy and state independence. It is up to us, up to our work, our
hands and our minds to create a better life for all of us," Tudjman
said.
Croatia has so far achieved more than any other country in
transition, he said.
Tudjman called on citizens to have more confidence in themselves
and their government in order to ensure a better and happier future
for themselves.
After having addressed the public, President Tudjman left
Maksimir.
