PULA, April 9 (Hina) - The Pula-based Uljanik shipyard signed an
agreement with the Montagu Bay shipping company from Liberia (a
company of the German corporation Krupp Seeschiffart) for the
construction of a ship intended for the transport of a total of
13,000 tonnes of trucks and cars, the shipyard said in a statement
Thursday.
The ship to be constructed will be 176 metres long, 31 metres wide
and 28 metres tall. It will sail at a speed of 19.5 knots and will be
run by a 11.060 kW engine.
The ship will be equipped with a loading ramp at the stern and one at
the side, as well as a total of eleven decks, three of which will be
mobile.
Uljanik signed an agreement with Krupp's company Providence
Shipping Inc. from Liberia last year for the construction of two
ships which should be delivered together with the newly ordered
ship by the end of the year 2000.
With this last order, the Pula-based shipyard currently has
agreements for the construction of 13 ships of total value of about
US$430 million.
