INTENSIVE REPAIR OF HOMES IN SISAK AREA CONTINUES

( Editorial: --> 5309 ) SISAK, April 7 (Hina)- Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic signed in Sisak on Tuesday contracts on reconstruction of homes in the Sisak-Moslavina County with representatives of 53 construction companies. By the end of the year the Sisak-Moslavina County will have repaired 1,200 houses in the fourth, the fifth and the sixth degree of damage categories, i.e. houses that have been virtually torn down. By autumn the Government will complete repairs to 600 homes with first, second, and third degree damage, which commenced last year. Our goal is to bring all the refugees to their repaired homes by autumn 1999, stressed Radic, adding that reconstruction should be fast, thorough and cheap. He emphasised that so far the Reconstruction and Development Ministry had repaired 3,900 homes in the Sisak-Moslavina County. In his meetings with local officials, Radic arranged for the return of 30 Serb returnees from the Croatian Danube region by the end of this week. Next week they will receive grants for the repair of homes with first to third degree damage, in accordance with Croatia's commitment from the agreement on two-way return.
