TRAVNIK, Apr 6 (Hina) - Austrian Interior Minister Karl Schloegel
Monday visited Travnik, central Bosnia, where with local leaders he
discussed the return of Bosnian refugees from Austria to Bosnia.
Since the war began, Austria has welcomed about 95,000 refugees
from Bosnia-Herzegovina, said Schloegel.
About 60,000, mostly with higher education, have working permits.
Some 10,000 have returned to Bosnia, while some went to other
European countries, the interior minister said, pointing out the
Austrian government was currently providing care for 5,400 mostly
elderly Bosnian refugees.
Austria wants to assist in the voluntary refugee return. The
Austrian government is willing to assist in the reconstruction of
the infrastructure and finance economy projects. But the Austrian
government does not want to reconstruct houses to which owners do
not want to return, Schloegel said.
