The project of the construction of the 3.2-kilometre-long section will cost HRK 187 million including the Value Added Tax. The investment has been prepared by the Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC), the Croatian state-owned motorway operator. This part of the Beli Manastir-Osijek-Svilaj motorway will be built by the Osijek-Koteks and Ingra Zagreb companies.
The funds have been secured from a loan issued together by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The Sredanci-Svilaj section is a part of the pan-European corridor Vc going from Budapest via Sarajevo to the southern Croatian seaport of Ploce.
From 2004 to 2010, a total of 413 kilometres of motorways were built and more than 23 billion kuna were invested for that purpose, Kosor said at today's ceremony. She added that investments into motorways were necessary as, for instance, 90 per cent of tourists arrived in Croatia by motorway.
