SARAJEVO, March 30 (Hina) - A large number of displaced people and
refugees managed to visit their pre-war homes in different parts of
Bosnia-Herzegovina last weekend, UNHCR spokeswoman in Sarajevo
Ariane Quentier said on Monday.
There were no incidents whatsoever during those visits, Quentier
told a press conference, adding that this represented an
encouraging sign in the implementation of Annex VII of the Dayton
peace agreement, which guarantees full right to return for all
refugees.
A group of 45 Croats visited their homes on Friday in Sanski Most (in
the Croat-Muslim Federation), and on the following day 58 Bosniak
(Muslim) refugees visited their homes in Prijedor (Serb entity).
Travelling in a long line of vehicles, 510 Serb refugees visited
their homes in Sanski Most on Sunday. Fifty of them decided to start
reconstructing their houses by the end of this month.
A group of 300 Bosniaks visited their homes on the same day in the
area of Prijedor. At the beginning of the war, Serb forces committed
numerous killings and expelled almost all Bosniaks, who at the time
made up majority population.
Last weekend, UNHCR assisted the visit of a group of 140 Bosniak
refugees, currently living in Sweden, to their homes in Banja
Luka.
