VUKOVAR, March 26 (Hina) - Croatian special police forces on
Thursday started de-mining a section of the new Vukovar cemetery of
Dubrave where an Alley of Croatian Defenders will be built.
Mladen Blaskovic, head of the mine-removal team, said that 20
members of special police forces were de-mining the cemetery.
A section of about nine hectares should be cleared of mines in two
weeks.
The remains of about 1,300 persons buried at the new cemetery after
the fall of Vukovar will be transferred to the Alley of Croatian
Defenders.
The exhumation of bodies should start around 15 April.
Civilians and other victims of the war, who express a wish to be
buried in the alley, will have their plot at the cemetery.
