ZAGREB, March 25 (Hina) - Croatia's Constitutional Court considers
that "there are reasons to doubt" the constitutionality of
regulations under the Law on Public Gatherings which allow bodies
of local self-government to stipulate places unsuitable for public
gatherings.
The Court on Wednesday decided that within the next 15 days it
should obtain the views of the Croatian National Parliament,
Administration Ministry and Interior Ministry. Once it receives
the opinions, the Court will decide whether proceedings should be
initiated to assess the constitutionality of that law.
A proposal for starting proceedings to assess the
constitutionality of decisions made under the law was forwarded by
the Croatian Pure Party of Rights (HCSP).
This party also sought an assessment of the constitutionality of a
decision by the Zagreb city authorities on places unsuitable for
public gatherings.
