ZAGREB, March 17 (Hina) - The Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Tuesday chaired a session of the Council for Strategic Decisions,
which focused on negotiations on large foreign investments in the
construction of infrastructure, roads and power-generating
facilities.
The Council supported the continuation of talks and conclusion of
an agreement with the US company Bechtel on the construction of the
motorway from Bregana (Croatian-Slovene border) to Zagreb to Bihac
(western Bosnia-Herzegovina) to Dubrovnik (southern Croatia),
with branches towards the Croatian ports of Split and Ploce and
Sarajevo.
Construction of the motorway was agreed upon in a trilateral
agreement signed in Dubrovnik between Croatia, the United States
and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The agreement envisages the provision of
favourable financial conditions.
