ZAGREB, March 9 (Hina) - Current issues were discussed at Monday's
meeting of the Croatian Defence and National Security Council
(VONS) held under the chairmanship of President Franjo Tudjman.
In order to avoid possible provocations which could disturb the
results achieved up to now in the normalisation of life in the
Croatian Danube River region, it was proposed at the meeting that
the Croatian Government declare a moratorium on the holding of all
political rallies in the region, a statement from the President's
Office said.
It was also emphasised that the government and the Croatian
Interior Ministry undertake necessary steps to prevent anything
which could provoke provocations, create insecurity and thwart the
continued normalisation of life throughout the state, the
statement ended.
