VUKOVAR, Feb 23 (Hina) - Vukovar-Sirmium County authorities on
Monday discussed the state of the economy and reconstruction and
return in the Croatian Danube River region.
Participants in the meeting, which included parliamentary
representatives from the county and assistant ministers from
competent ministries, sought urgent talks with government
representatives on economic problems.
As well as privatisation, which most participants considered to be
unjustifiably slow, redundant labour was considered the largest
problem, warned management representatives of Vukovar firms
Vuteks, Borovo and VUPIK.
Vukovar-Sirmium County Prefect Rudolf Koenig said the Danube
region economy needed the financial support of the state, which
through the Croatian Privatisation Fund was the owner of the
largest and most significant firms in the Danube region.
