ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - In its meeting on Thursday, the Presidency
of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) supported measures for
facilitation of the return of displaced people to the Danube region
and for creation of conditions for the return of Serb families from
the Danube region to other Croatian areas.
The Presidency stressed that Croats who had been expelled from the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina should be
efficiently protected, including their basic human rights, such as
the right to a safe home.
The Presidency backed the Government's decision on revision of the
law on temporary taking of certain, i.e. abandoned, property and
the law on leasing of flats in the Danube region, both in accordance
with the constitution and international conventions, said a
statement by the HDZ presidency.
