ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - The Croatian Returnees' Association (ZPH)
believes that certain progress has been made in the return of Croat
displaced people to the Danube region, but it does not think this is
enough, Association president Mato Simic told reporters following
a session of the ZPH administrative board on Friday.
Mine-removal started in only two to three villages and the
reconstruction of houses only in some villages, Simic said, adding
the Association could not be satisfied with that.
The ZPH expects an invitation for talks from Premier Zlatko Matesa,
with whom difficulties in places of return throughout Croatia would
be discussed, Simic said.
ZPH administrative board member Mirko Rebic spoke about two
problems the Association was facing.
One of them is the inconsistent implementation of a decision on
excluding the returnees from paying electricity bills in Split
County, and the other is a lack of money for the functioning of the
local self-government in towns and municipalities displaced people
are returning to, he said.
