ZAGREB, Mar 2 (Hina) - A seminar for commissioners of the Federation
of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) and the Danube River
Region Trade Union, which gathers local Serb workers, was held in
Stubicke Toplice, near Zagreb between 25 and 28 February.
According to a statement the SSSH issued Monday, the seminar
gathered union commissioners from companies which were divided
during the Serb occupation of Croatia. During the war, a part of the
companies' employees worked in the Danube region, while the rest
worked in exile.
The seminar discussed how to establish a joint information system
and local union commissions, what to do for returnees to eastern
Croatia, and how to translate "separatism" into cooperation and
integration on a local level.
Friedrich Glasl of Salzburg University headed the seminar, while
lectures were also held by Evan Kraft, an American professor and
advisor at the Croatian People's Bank, and Zagreb County SSSH
commissioner Mario Ivekovic.
The seminar was organised by the Studio Centre for Peace and
Resolving Conflicts in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western
Srijem, and the U.S. centre for international labour solidarity.
