PRISTINA, Mar 2 (Hina)- Kosovo Albanian leader Ibrahim Rugova
assessed as dignified and successful Monday's peaceful
demonstration about 60,000 Albanians held in Pristina against
violence in Kosovo.
Rugova most strongly condemned the violence Serb police used
against the protesters, claiming the protesters had in no way
provoked the police.
Rugova called on the international community to exert stronger
pressure on Belgrade to put a stop to violence in Kosovo, a region in
southern Yugoslavia where Albanians make up for 90 per cent of the
population.
The Kosovo Albanian leader demanded that the United States and the
European Union create preconditions for the establishment of
dialogue between Kosovo capital Pristina and Belgrade.
Rugova proclaimed tomorrow as mourning day in the municipalities of
Glogovac and Srbica, in memory of 20 Albanians killed in a clash
with Serb police last weekend.
