WESTENDORP TO DECIDE ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE CURRENCY

( Editorial: --> 4178 ) Sarajevo,13 January (Hina)- The US President's special envoy for implementation of the peace agreement Robert Gelbard stated on Tuesday that members of the BH presidency were not able to reach a consensus on the design of a new BH currency and that the decision would be made by High Representative Carlos Westendorp, in cooperation with the Governor of the central BH bank Peter Nichol. Westendorp told the press that they would start working already today. After a three hour long meeting with members of the BH presidency in Sarajevo Gelbard told the press it was sad that nine months of discusions on the design of the currency did not bear any results. Although he refused to identify the culprit for the lack of agreement, Gelbard said that member of the presidency Krešimir Zubak was very co-operative throughout the discussion. Zubak deserves to be commended for his contribution to the discussion, but unfortunately the three parties could not reach an agreement, said Gelbard. On Tuesday Gelbard and Westendorp were also present when the BH presidency also discussed nomination of ambassadors. According to Izetbegović's foreign policy advisor Mirzo Hajrić, the presidency agreed on nomination of 32 ambassadors, the only contentious post remaining the one in Washington. Hajrić said he expected that Momčilo Krajišnik would propose a candidate for the post in Washington as early as next week. An original candidate for the post was Karadžić's close associate Jovan Zametica, but the US administration subtly suggested that he was a persona non grata in Washington.
