WESTENDORP'S OFFICE AUTHORISES UNDISTURBED BUS TRANSPORT IN B-H

( Editorial: --> 3021 ) SARAJEVO, Jan 8 (Hina) - The office of the international High Representative for the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement on Thursday authorised all bus companies in Bosnia- Herzegovina to establish regular services between towns in the country's two entities. According to Simon Haselock, spokesman for the High Representative's office, the decision was made in line with Annexe 10 of the Dayton agreement. Any attempt to obstruct the implementation of the decision will represent a direct violation of the peace agreement's regulations and the freedom of movement, he said. Haselock said the Serb entity's Transport and Communications Inspection would no longer be allowed to hassle drivers and passengers crossing the separation line between Bosnia's two entities, the Croat-Muslim Bosnian Federation and the Bosnian Serb Republic. The Stabilisation Force and the International Police Task Force will supervise all buses crossing from one entity into the other in order to ensure undisturbed passage, the spokesman said. Deputy High Representative Jacques Klein directly demanded of Bosnian Serb authorities to stop obstructing bus traffic between Sarajevo and Banja Luka. A regular line on that route was established two months ago by Centrotrans from Sarajevo and Autoprijevoz from Banja Luka, but the Pale-based Ministry of Transport and Communications objected. The Ministry's inspectors banned buses with Banja Luka plates from driving, while Centrotrans' vehicles were forced to return back to Sarajevo on many occasions. Sarajevo and Banja Luka are the only towns in Bosnia's two entities to have a commercial bus connection since the signing of the Dayton peace agreement. (hina) ha mm 081408 MET jan 98
