PULA, Dec 31 (Hina) - The coalition of five parties - Istrian
Democratic Alliance (IDS), Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS), Liberal
Party (LS), Croatian People's Party (HNS) and Action of Social
Democrats of Croatia (ASH) - on Thursday evening held a central pre-
election rally for the eight constituency, in the coastal town of
Pula.
Ivan Jakovcic, the bearer of the list of this coalition for the
eight electoral unit, said "only four days of life are remaining"
for the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), because "as of January 4
new authorities will start redress wrongs done to the Croatian man,
particularly in Istria, in the last nine years."
Jakovcic asserted that good and right exit from this situation "is
being guaranteed only by two opposition lists, namely coalitions,"
as they offer the real regional approach with European traits.
The IDS leader said these two coalitions "will create a country
where people will not be classified according to their nationality
or religion, but where every man will have their chances."
Damir Kajin (IDS), who is the second candidate on this list, said
the country should be first cleansed of the influence of the HDZ.
According to him, Croatia is a country of "humiliated workers and
pensioners" due to the HDZ.
Ante Simonic (HSS), the fourth candidate on the list, said "on
January 3, voters will be main politicians as they will hold the
destiny of the Croatian State in their hands."
Miljenko Doric (HNS), the sixth candidate, assessed that "the HDZ
is now the past."
Ivan Stanic (LS), the seventh candidate on the list, told Pula
citizens that this coalition "guarantees another republic and a
country of knowledge, work, creativity as well as of security for
each man."
