ZAGREB, Dec 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) is often faced with criticism and attacks, which are frequently not based on facts. A part of criticism is generated from the general state of affairs and problems in the
Croatian economy and they are not very often related to the process of the privatisation and the Croatian Privatisation Fund," said Stipe Hrkac, the HFP President during Tuesday's presentation of a new publication "Privatisation in Croatia".
ZAGREB, Dec 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) is
often faced with criticism and attacks, which are frequently not
based on facts. A part of criticism is generated from the general
state of affairs and problems in the Croatian economy and they are
not very often related to the process of the privatisation and the

during Tuesday's presentation of a new publication "Privatisation
in Croatia".#L#
The publication cited most frequent examples of incorrect
statements about the privatisation process and a role of this Fund
in it, Hrkac said.
As the work of the HFP will be of particular interest for the public
in the coming period, and its activities will be exposed to
criticism, the purpose of this publication is to attract the
attention to some issues concerning the work of the fund as well as
to some incorrect allegations.
One of such claims is that the ownership transformation of entire
former socially-owned property in Croatia had been conducted via
the HFP.
According to Hrkac, of the total former socially-owned property,
the value of which has been assessed at 765.8 billion kuna (10
billion US dollars), only 3.6 billion kuna were offered for sales as
shares at public bids via the HFP and it is just 4.4 percent of the
total value of the former socially-owned property.
With assistance of the HFP, to date some 2,650 companies have been
privatised, and of it, there was no objection from either party in
concern for 87 percent of privatisation cases.
Since the start of the ownership transformation to date, HFP has
received a total of 710 requests for the control of the ownership
transformation, and those requests referred to 395 firms or about
13 percent out of the total number of firms privatised via the Fund,
said the HFP Deputy President Marija Turudic.
All requests have been considered, and the ownership
transformation was annulled in nine companies out of 395 where the
control of privatisation was carried out.
