ZAGREB ZAGREB, Dec 17 (Hina) - The remains of Stjepan Djurekovic, a Croatian patriot killed by the former Yugoslav secret service of Udba in Munich on July 28, 1983, were buried at Zagreb's central cemetery of Mirogoj Friday.
Djurekovic's remains were exhumed from a Munich cemetery on December 10, 1999. Vice president of the Club of Croatian Returnees Katica Milos said goodbye to Djurekovic on behalf of his family and the Club. She said that Djurekovic was the witness of the suppression of everything Croatian who fought the old regime. Djurekovic's emigration, which took place on April 24, 1982, disturbed Yugoslav political and intelligence officials. He was ambushed by two Udba assassins who killed him with two shots in the head, and split his scull in half with an axe on July 28, 1982. Several months after his murder, Djurekovic's son Damir emigrated from Germany to Calgary afraid he might face the same destiny as his father
