President. The Hungarian Government and citizens had with great shock received the news that after a long illness the President of the Republic of Croatia had passed away, the letter said. Hungarian officials held in high regard the role of President Tudjman in the recent history of Central and Eastern Europe, and in the creation of the independent State of Croatia, the letter said. The Hungarian Government and citizens had with great shock received

The letter was signed by Hungarian President Arpad Goenz, Premier
Viktor Orban, Parliament speaker Janos Ader and Foreign Minister
