ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader on Wednesday received two representatives in the German Bundestag, Klaus-Peter Willsch and Arnold Vaatz, both from the opposition's Christian Democratic Union (CDU).
Sanader acquainted the two officials with the current political situation in Croatia, and with the condition of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. He said the elections for parliament's House of Representatives had been called for 3 January, and also briefed the two MPs with the course of preparations for the elections. Sanader also spoke about the strategic orientation of Croatia's foreign policy, which he pointed out was integration with European and Transatlantic institutions. The deputy foreign minister said Croatia could in no way agree to
possible regional associations, and that Croatia expected
negotiations with the European Union on the Agreement on
Stabilisation and Association on individual basis would resume
with increased intensity as soon as possible.
Sanader also said Croatia would pursue with a consistent
implementation of the Dayton and Washington peace agreements.
Talks also tackled cooperation between the Croatian Democratic
Union, Croatia's ruling party, and the CDU, and the necessity of
intensifying cooperation in European frameworks.
