SARAJEVO, Dec 2 (Hina) - Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic said all provisions of the New York
Declaration would be implemented fully and completely because this
document has the full support of the international community.
In Sarajevo's daily Dnevni Avaz on Thursday Izetbegovic recalled
that the most important steps aimed at establishing unified border
police had already been made.
"The Law on the establishment of Bosnia-Herzegovina border police
is the most important after Dayton, the most important from the
viewpoint of the integrity and stabilisation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina," Izetbegovic told the daily, stressing the law would
become effective despite all the difficulties that can be expected
in the Parliament.
He also stressed Bosnia-Herzegovina would get unified passports,
while the current ones, with entity insignia, would most probably
be valid until their date of expiry runs out.
Izetbegovic hailed the dismissal of 22 officials pursuant to a
decision of the High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina and the
head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He
did express dissatisfaction, however, with the removal of certain
Bosniak (Moslem) officials, especially the Una-Sana Canton
Prefect, Mirsad Veladzic.
Commenting on what can be expected from the upcoming parliamentary
elections in Croatia, Izetbegovic said changes would ensue, but it
remains to be seen in what degree.
"I personally believe the change would be significant. I expect
authorities in Zagreb to suggest to Bosnian Croats to solve their
problems in Sarajevo instead of Zagreb, and this is the most
important change," Izetbegovic said.
