According to the programme, agricultural production should be extended and health tourism as well as yachting and aquatic sports developed. Professors of the Zagreb-based Medical School conducted an analysis of the mud in the cove of Istruga in that municipality. According to the results of the analysis, this is the curative mud and can be used for the treatments of spinal, rheumatic, gynaecological and skin diseases. Under the Islands Act, 22 programmes of sustainable development of islands should be made. Starc said the implementation of this sustainable development of Smokvica can ensure new 100 jobs. The programme does not exclude a possibility of investing in high technologies, but it does exclude possibilities of environmentally unfriendly projects. One of plans is to construct an airport at Brna near Smokvica as well as to build a marina for yachts. Starc thus believes that Korcula can become a regional traffic junction. (hina) ms
