LIBERAL PARTY, POST AND TELECOMMUNICATION UNION SIGN AGREEMENT

ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - The Liberal Party (LS) and the Croatian Union of Post and Telecommunications (HSPT) on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement binding the LS to endorse amendments to the Law on the Privatisation of Croatian Telecommunications (HT) at the Croatian National Parliament, and the HSPT to call on members to vote for the LS at the upcoming parliamentary elections. The agreement, "which has no legal effect, but presents a moral obligation," was signed by LS's political secretary Bozo Kovacevic and HSPT president Josip Pupic. Through amendments to the Law on Privatisation of the HT, the LS will ask for the amount of stock (currently seven per cent) for former and present employees, to be increased, a possibility for employees to purchase stock before they are offered to the public, and that the way and conditions of loans for the purchase of stock be established. The LS has committed itself to, through its members in the Government, enable the signing of a collective agreement for HT employees which would prevent the laying off of workers in the next five years without an agreement with the union, the modernisation of Croatian posts and amendments to the Labour Law.
