HOMELAND WAR INVALIDS MOVE INTO NEW FLATS

VIROVITICA, Nov 26 (Hina) - Minister of Croatian Homeland War Soldiers Juraj Njavro on Friday handed the keys of 16 flats to 16 persons in Virovitica, 100km east of Zagreb. The keys were given to 10 invalids of the Homeland War, two parents and four widows of killed Homeland War soldiers. The Government-adopted Programme of care for Homeland War victims envisages the construction of 8,000 flats and 4,000 loans for flats. Since the beginning of implementing the Programme in 1997, about 1,000 flats were allocated and about 3,000 loans for flats given out. The programme of construction of new flats is being carried out on 130 locations in Croatia. About 2,500 flats are currently in various phases of construction, 500 are being drawn up, and constructors are offering bids for the construction of another 500.
