(Bosnian Croats) on Saturday held a rally in front of the bus
station in Dvor na Uni (70 kilometres south of Zagreb) protesting
against a too slow process in shedding more light on destiny of
1,692 Croatian soldiers and civilians whose whereabouts have been
unknown since the war.
The protest was organised by the Co-ordination of associations of
Homeland War veterans, invalids and families of killed and missing
soldiers in Sisak-Moslavina County.
The Co-ordination's head, Mario Marot, read a letter, at the
gathering, forwarded to the world and Croatian public.
The letter said they had gathered in the free Croatian town of Dvor
na Uni to warn that nothing is still unknown about the fate of 1,692
missing persons, of whom 342 soldiers and civilians were in this
county.
On behalf of the gathered, Marot called on local Serbs to help in
search of missing people. Marot added that it would not be possible
to gain true confidence if Serbs did not assist in attempts to shed
light on the fate of the missing people.
They also requested the Serb community in Croatia, its leaders and
Serb MPs in the National Sabor to engage themselves in such
efforts.
The rally's participants forrwarded a message with best wishes to
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman for a speedy recovery.
Present at the rally were also local authorities.
This Co-ordination organised the first rally of such kind in the
town of Glina on 30 September.
