HDZ RECOMMENDS GOVT CONSIDER APPLICATION OF CONSTITUTIONAL LAW

ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - Discussing the possible application of the institute of temporary disability of the President of the Republic to perform his duty, the Presidency of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Thursday unanimously recommended to the government to consider within its constitutional and legislative powers the application of the institute . According to a statement from the HDZ Main Secretariat, the Presidency expressed unanimous satisfaction with yesterday's passing of the Constitutional Law on the Temporary Disability of the President of the Republic to Perform his Duty. The Presidency concluded the Law preserved President Franjo Tudjman's dignity, and ensured conditions for full political stability in the country and the functioning of all bodies and institutions of state authority in line with the Constitution and the law. The statement said the HDZ Presidency regretted the fact that the representatives of the Opposition Six coalition had refused to endorse the Constitutional Law out of strictly party-related reasons.
