UN MISSION OFFICIAL ON ATTACK ON HIS PERSON IN MOSTAR CAFE

MOSTAR, Nov 24 (Hina) - The spokesman for the Mostar-based Office of the United Nations Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Stefo Lehmann, on Wednesday made an appeal that a recent physical attack on his person in an eastern Mostar cafe be not used for political purposes. Lehmann said in a statement released from the hospital where he is receiving treatment that he was not the victim of a politically- motivated attack, and that he believed the incident had been the result of hatred of foreigners and the international community. The UN Mission to BH today most harshly condemned the attack on Lehmann, and confirmed in a statement that their official suffered several injuries, including jaw fracture. The Mission called on local police to investigate the incident and press charges against the attackers. The Mission refuted information which stated the incident had been a conflict between two groups, asserting it had been a one-sided attack on an individual. The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Interior Ministry Public Relations Office, controlled by Muslims, last Tuesday reported that Lehmann had been injured in a fight. (hina) ha
