ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - Croatia's Foreign Minister Mate Granic on Monday received a special delegation of the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which is in charge of preparations for
a Conference on Minorities within the Democratisation and Human Rights Task Force of the Stability Pact for South-Eastern. Minister Granic and officials of the Council of Europe and the OSCE held talks on legal mechanisms for the protection of minorities' rights in Croatia and Croatia's activities in this field within the Stability Pact. Monday received a special delegation of the Council of Europe and
the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE),
which is in charge of preparations for a Conference on Minorities
within the Democratisation and Human Rights Task Force of the
Stability Pact for South-Eastern.
Minister Granic and officials of the Council of Europe and the OSCE
held talks on legal mechanisms for the protection of minorities'
rights in Croatia and Croatia's activities in this field within the
Stability Pact.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Granic
pointed to his country's full support to the implementation of the
Pact, particularly to the conduct of activities and projects
concerning the Task Force for Democratisation and Human Rights.
He told them that Croatia had proposed ten projects for the first
session of that Task Force, and special attention was paid to
projects on the national minorities' protections.
Minister Granic informed the OSCE and Council of Europe
representatives of mechanisms for the protection of rights of
minorities in his country, bilateral treaties and international
instruments adopted by the Republic of Croatia.
He also suggested that rights of Croats in other countries should be
discussed, the statement read.
He acquainted the foreign officials with the current political
developments in Croatia.
The head of the delegation, Hans Peter Furrer, the Council of Europe
director-general for political issue, spoke of the objectives of
the Minorities Conference, scheduled for next March in Slovenia.
