SPLIT: TOWN QUAY, BASEMENT OF DIOCLETIAN PALACE UNDER FLOOD SPLIT, Nov 19 (Hina) - High waves, caused by a gale, have overflowed the Split town quay and port, flooding the basement of the Palace of Diocletian. A strong south and
south-west wind in the central Adriatic has been blowing for more than six hours. The Split quay is covered with at least 30 centimetres of water, which has reached the shops and cafes within the walls of the Diocletian Palace, and flooded the basement of this international cultural monument from the times of ancient Rome. Strong rain and wind are hampering traffic in the city. Problems were also reported in the ferry service, with many local lines being cancelled.
