ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - The wife of the US Ambassador to Croatia, Lynn Montgomery, and the Slovene international foundation for mine removal and assistance to mine victims on Thursday signed in Zagreb a letter of understanding on
granting Croatia US$86,000 for mine removal. Mrs Montgomery has already organised a charity action called "Adopt a Mine Field", which helped raise US$43,000 for the removal of mines in the Zadar hinterland (southern Croatia). The money will be transferred through the Slovene foundation to the account of the Croatian mine-removal foundation "A Mine-Free Croatia". The United States will through the Slovene foundation donate the same amount for mine removal in the area. The Croatian Mine Removal Centre invited bids for mine removal in the Zadar hinterland and 'Piper' company, which won the contract, should start removing mines in late November.(hina) jn rml
