ZAGREB, Nov 3 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Ivo
Sanader, on Wednesday received the international community's High
Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Wolfgang Petritsch.
Sanader and Petritsch discussed the voting of Croatian citizens in
Bosnia at Croatia's coming parliamentary election, the Foreign
Ministry said in a statement.
Petritsch requested an explanation on how Croatian citizens
outside the country, particularly those who are now in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, will be able to vote after the adoption of the
electoral law. He was especially interested in the issue of voters'
lists and locations of polling stations.
The Croatian official said his country, being a signatory to the
Washington and Dayton agreements, fully supports the
implementation of those treaties and will continue pursuing such
policy in the future.
All Croatian citizens, regardless of where they are staying, will
be treated equally at the election, Sanader added.
Voters' registers will be issued in due time, and the voting outside
the country will be organised in Croatia's embassies and
consulates. Zagreb has already forwarded a note on this matter to
Bosnian authorities, Sanader said.
In line with positive experiences in the conduct of elections in
1995 and 1997, Croatia is expecting good cooperation with Bosnia's
bodies as well as with international factors at the coming
election, the Croatian diplomat said adding the Croatian
Government guarantees that the election in the country and outside
it will be carried out in accordance with good European democratic
standards. In this way, Croatia will prove once again that it is a
mature member of the international community.
