ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Representatives of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday discussed an SSSH proposal for a social agreement and conditions of SSSH support
to opposition coalitions at the impending parliamentary elections. Speaking to the press after the talks, SSSH president Davor Juric said it had been decided, due to the seriousness of the text of the SSSH proposal, to hold separately, and not jointly, negotiate with the SDP and the Croatian Social Liberal Party. Juric said it had been agreed with the SDP to hold negotiations on 8 November. In the meantime, the SSSH will discuss its social agreement draft with the HSLS, he added. ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Representatives of the Federation of
Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) and the Social
Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday discussed an SSSH proposal for a
social agreement and conditions of SSSH support to opposition
coalitions at the impending parliamentary elections.
Speaking to the press after the talks, SSSH president Davor Juric
said it had been decided, due to the seriousness of the text of the
SSSH proposal, to hold separately, and not jointly, negotiate with
the SDP and the Croatian Social Liberal Party.
Juric said it had been agreed with the SDP to hold negotiations on 8
November. In the meantime, the SSSH will discuss its social
agreement draft with the HSLS, he added.
SDP president Ivica Racan said his party was willing to sign the
agreement with the SSSH. It will not have an electoral propaganda
character, but will represent a programme to help Croatia come out
of the crisis, he added.
Racan announced the SDP-HSLS coalition would release next week its
programme for coming out of the economic-social crisis, in keeping
with which it will act after the elections.
The SSSH proposal envisages working out 25 requests the SSSH has
forwarded to the ruling Croatian Democratic Union and the
Opposition Six group. The document also calls for changes to the
Labour Law, the pension insurance system, the salary policy, and
the making of a privatisation supervision mechanism.
The SSSH is discussing its proposal with all parties making the
Opposition Six.
