repossession of flats in the Brcko district. In most cases, potential returnees state in their claims that they are willing to share their flats with Serb refugee families occupying them. By the end of this year, the commission should enable the return of 200 refugee families to their flats in the town centre. Brcko is a strategically important town, which was seized by Bosnian Serbs at the beginning of the Bosnian war, after about 70-80 per cent of the town's non-Serb population had been expelled.The Dayton agreement failed to resolve the status of Brcko, which the Serbs were unwilling to give up, so the town was declared a special district.(hina) jn rml
