ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - If the Supreme Court decides to extradite
Mladen Naletilic Tuta to The Hague Tribunal, we will file a
complaint with the Constitutional Court which can prevent the
extradition, Naletilic's attorney Kresimir Krsnik said after
Friday's session of the Croatian Supreme Court.
Krsnik told the press the Croatian public had been deceived by
announcements of sanctions in case war crimes suspect Naletilic was
not extradited to The Hague Tribunal.
The international community, said the attorney, "showed how
hypocritical it is by giving Croatia a five-day ultimatum to
extradite Naletilic, despite the fact that it must respect the
Constitutional Law on Croatia's cooperation with The Hague
Tribunal, which it had okayed."
Krsnik reiterated that The Hague Tribunal's "disastrous
indictment" against his client was too general. The indictment
mentions the Croatian army and government in more than 20 places,
which, he said, was fully contrary to the Croatian Constitution and
the Constitutional Law on cooperation with the tribunal.
Naletilic's attorney said his client's condition had stabilised
after hospitalisation yesterday due to heart trouble.
If Naletilic's condition deteriorated, Krsnik said he would
request that his client be supervised by an international team of
doctors.
