The opening of "Ivana A" gas field, which will produce 700 million
cubic metres of gas daily, is a turning point in the development of
gas production in Croatia, said INAgip director Luka Rogoz.
Investments in the project are estimated at US$188 million. Once
additional platforms on the field are constructed by 2001, the
daily production will amount to 1.8 million cubic metres. The gas
will be sent by a sea pipeline to the Italian platform "Garibaldi K"
and further by gas networks of Agip, Snam, and Slovenia's Geoplin to
consumers in northern Croatia.
The US company BASSI, which assesses oil and gas reserves, recently
estimated the value of Ina's oil fields "White Nights" in Siberia at
US$240 million, with the price of US$16.2 per barrel, said Zeljko
Belosic, Ina's executive director in charge of oil and gas research
and production.
Belosic added only a small section of the overall area of "White
Nights" had been investigated.
The daily production by the end of this year will increase from the
current 2,230 to 3,300 tonnes, and it is expected that the annual
production on "White Nights" fields in 2000 will amount to 1.2
million tonnes.
The Croatian company Crosco-naftni servisi, which is a member of
the INA-group, recently signed a five-year contract with the
company Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) on works in Oman. The
value of the contract was estimated at more than US$60 million.
This will enable Ina to reach this part of the Persian Gulf, which
increases chances of its engaging other company potential.
Crosco has an annual turnover of US$50 million from activities
abroad and it has already agreed on projects worth US$45 million for
next year. The first stage of the Oman project starts in a couple of
days.
