CEPIN, Sept 24 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa on
Friday laid the foundation stone marking the beginning of the
construction of the "Cepin" d.o.o. oil factory within the "Edible
oil IPK Osijek 2000" project.
The necessary DM67 million, being the largest post-war investment
in eastern Croatia, was ensured by state guarantee and a loan from
the Dresdener Bank AG incorporated with two other German banks.
The new factory, which is envisaged to begin production in the third
quarter of 2001 will employ 241 employees.
Premier Matesa emphasised that the factory was extremely important
not only for Osijek-Baranja County as one of the most destroyed
during the war, but also for Croatia all together.
According to Matesa, the oil factory should produce enough oil
doing away with the need to import Edible oil. The factory's
advantage is that it is located directly in the area where the raw
product, sunflower is grown.
Matesa said that this project indicates that Croatia was open to
foreign investment and confirms that the Government will support
worthwhile programmes.
